A river runs throught it

Bize-Minervois

Welcome to a typical Mediterranean village and vineyard. Bize-Minervois encapsulates the art of living in the south, with its olive groves, vineyards, verdant little river (the Cesse), not forgetting its medieval streets and charming cafés.

Right next to the heart of the village are the starting points of some magnificent walks that will allow you to gain height. Food lovers won't want to miss a chance to visit the Oulibo olive oil mill, or a wine-tasting stop in one of the local wine estates.

Go back in time...

Already in prehistoric times, humans must have liked it in Bize, with its natural resources (water, the river Cesse and dozens of resurgences) and protection (caves)... In fact, they never left!

The Romans and then the Visigoths established themselves here, as demonstrated by the small fortified "Boussecos" tower just outside the village.

A medieval village

With its narrow streets, circular layout and the remains of gates and ramparts, the village as it stands today was clearly built in the Middle Ages.

The large building by the river's edge is a former royal cloth factory from the time of Louis XIV.

Walking by the plant nurseries and the river

Be sure to do the hike that starts out from the village, then along the river before climbing upwards... On sunny days, you can even finish off with a swim!

Hiking: the "Sentinel de la Cesse" route

The walks in Bize-Minervois are ideal in the springtime to enjoy nature's scents: pine, thyme, rosemary...

In the summer, you can swim in the river Cesse right in the heart of the village.
