The Top 10

Our most beautiful beaches

The Côte du Midi has more than 40 km of soft sandy coastline punctuated by a few areas of gravel (natural channels between a lagoon and the sea) extending from the mouth of the river Aude in the north to the beautiful limestone cliffs of Leucate to the south. A paradise inviting you to lay down your beach towel and splash in the clear waters of the Mediterranean.
A small selection of our most beautiful beaches, from north to south.

"Les Cabanes de Fleury"

This is where the Aude beaches begin, in the continuation of the mouth of the Aude. A natural beach nestled between the sea and an exceptional natural area (Pissevaches lagoon) and a stone's throw from an old fishermen's hamlet.

Saint-Pierre la mer

Plage du Roc de la Batterie: This beach is made recognisable by a rock, a unique promontory, that juts into the sea like a ship’s prow and breaks the monotony of the long sandy coastline. The seafront of this resort is lively all year round with its open-air market and its shops.

The beaches of Gruissan

Mateilles, the Chalets, the Vieille nouvelle... the beaches of Gruissan stretch for miles. Each one has a unique atmosphere in a very pleasant environment.

"La Vieille Nouvelle à Port-La Nouvelle"

This is the natural beach par excellence (protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral), a wild beach frequented by kitesurfers and windsurfers!

If you like alternating your swims with refreshing drinks on the terrace, this is the beach for you (and you can even take a spin in a “rosalie“ pedal bike!).

Plage de La Palme

This long (and wide) sandy beach runs on both sides of a building which was once as a pumping station for the salt works.

La Franqui

Apparently, it is the Mediterranean’s biggest rolling beach (for sailing)! It is also your best choice for making sand castles...

From Leucate village to Port-Leucate

The turquoise waters at the foot of the cliff are inhabited by tiny fish ... While the Leucate shoreline sweeps magically to Roussillon.
